While we are eagerly waiting to see the next generation of Toyota’s full-size pickup truck, many wonder what would be the upgrades for its off-road performance version, TRD Pro. At this point, details are unknown, so we can only speculate. Still, some of the things are easy to predict. So, we may presume in which direction would new version would go. In any case, the 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will be more capable than the outgoing model, thanks to several upgrades.
Besides all the novelties that are about to come with the upcoming redesign, the 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will also come with various exclusive features. At this point, we know for sure that the new version will adopt some of the technologies that are available in the smaller and more modern Tacoma but could see a little bit more as well. The new model is expected to hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Features
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind about this model is the whole list of off-road upgrades we are about to see. If you look at the current model, there is a couple of pretty serious upgrades compared to standard models. For example, it comes with 2.5-inch Fox shocks, a front skid plate, running boards, and grippy Michelin (P275/65 R18) tires. Also, you may count on a pretty impressive ground clearance of 10.7 inches. Along with it, there is an even more impressive approach angle, which goes around 31 degrees.
However, this model also lacks a couple of features that can be found in Tacoma TRD Pro. Some of the things that come to mind are Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Select, and those are the things we expect to see in the next-generation model.
Besides these mechanical upgrades, we also expect that the company’s new camera-based systems will be part of the standard equipment. This particularly refers to the Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM), which shows everything that’s happening underneath the vehicle. Also, count on the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), which shows everything that’s happening around the vehicle.

2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Engine
This aspect of the 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will be particularly interesting. So far, the spotlight was mostly on the upcoming hybrid version, which should be based on a six-cylinder engine and feature around 450 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain would be a perfect choice if Toyota plans to compete with Raptor. Still, the latest reports talk about the new gasoline engine as well. The Japanese manufacturer has filed a trademark for the “I-Force Max” nameplate, which will probably be a completely new gasoline engine for this full-size truck.
At this point, it’s hard to say which one of these two powertrain options would be a better choice for 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. Each one has its own advantages, so we won’t exclude the possibility to see both of them in the offer.
Styling and Interior Design
The new Tundra will come completely redesigned, based on a new TNGA-F platform, which will bring significant improvements. The TRD Pro will come with further upgrades. The same thing is with the styling. Of course, the new model will come with significantly improved aesthetics, but we also count on a bunch of exclusive styling details for this particular version. At this point, we can’t say much about this aspect, but we are sure the approach will be the same as for the current generation, which in practice means things like different grille design, unique wheels, exclusive color options etc.
Naturally, the interior design won’t be an exception, so the 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will come with a couple of exclusive features as well. Of course, exclusive seats with unique stitching is the first thing that comes to mind but count on many other details as well. Still, the overall cabin design will be largely the same, with the exception of different interior color schemes in the offer. Furthermore, we may count on an exclusive list of standard equipment, with a couple of additional interior features compared to the rest of the lineup.

2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Release Date and Price
We have no doubt that the 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro release date will be scheduled for the same time as for the other models in the lineup. At this point, the exact date is still unavailable, but the latest reports suggest this will happen sometime in the last quarter of 2021. When it comes to the price, the current model goes around 48.500 dollars and we don’t expect some significant increase in the near future. We expect more details in the future.
